What penalties would you dish out?

Bust em down to DIII for 10 years, then allow them to work their back to D1 if they choose to.

Heavy sanctions on all sports.

Allow them to appeal and reduce them significantly if they clean out the athletic department.

Why couldn't this be disputed in any of the 1500 other threads about Penn St, JoePa, and Sandusky?

Cause brah, the other threads are about what penalties the NCAA will hand down. This is about what penalties we would hand down. It's the subtle differences

I can honestly say I just have no idea what punishments should be handed down. I go back and forth on the easiest to the worse that could be imagined

- donate all football revenues for the next 3 years to charities for sexually abused children; every dollar from parking, gate, concessions, tv, licensed apparel, etc. this is more appropriate institutional penance than scholarship loss.

- 3 year bowl ban

- free transfers with immediate eligibility

I see a lot of people saying how dumb and out of line the NCAA would be to dish out penalties worse than the death penalty. So I'm mainly curious what they would do instead.

Lots of good suggestions being thrown out in various PSU threads, but one thing I haven't seen mentioned that would be very effective, and somewhat deserving:

No games aired on any tv, satellite, or internet broadcast for 10 years, no collection of tv revenue (even shared revenue) for the same time period.

Good thing I am not in charge because I wouldn't be able to make a rational response.

I like the DIII idea, plus it takes them out of the Big Ten. You know that the B10 commish would love nothing more than to have this move made for him right now. Penn State just has a real dirty feel to it right now. I still can't believe that they are recruiting as well as they are.

IMO, the purpose of NCAA penalties is to make it so nobody would want to commit those same violations again in the future. Having that stance, the NCAA definitely doesn't want to see anything like this ever again. So what would be the best way to make sure this doesn't happen? Absolutely hammer them.

- No scholarships for 2 years
- Reduced scholarships for the next 3 years (Max 15 or something)
- No bowl games for 5 years
- Allow them to stay on TV, but all TV revenue donated to charities
- Free transferring of all current scholarship athletes with no penalties

Haven't really thought about what or if they should penalize other sports.
