to be an absolue freak at, which instrument would you pick and why?
For me, i'd have to say either
1.) Drums because it looks like a blast
2.) Piano because you have endless possibilities of sounds

So does guitar, though.

Guitar. I play and write songs, but I'm a much better lyricist than guitarist. Better playing would result in more variety and stronger musical texture to my songs.

Guitar, but I have absolutely no musical talent whatsoever. I love listening to those that do though.

The sax for obvious reasons.

Guitar.
I play now, and becoming a freak at it would make my life a lot easier.

Piano.
My favorite singer/songwriter can absolutely kill it on piano and it's something I've always been interested in learning. Plus guys who can slay piano, slay puss.

Counting vocal cords as an instrument
Singing
Took me 2 times in college to pass Ear Training as a music major becuase I can't sing at all. I can hear it in my head, but can't make it come out my cords.

+1. I haven't had that kind of musical training but have written and played a decent amount of music over the years. I'll try even the simplest of backing vocals and the rest of the band winces and shakes their head. No amount of training will fix it.

Watching people like Dr. John and Professor Longhair just killing it on piano has always made me want to be better at it. So, Piano is my answer

Guitar. I think I'm decent now, but I'd love to just be able to tear it apart with ease.
Voice is a close second.
