To think that those guys were 15 when the album dropped!!! Great record for the times. I have listened to "Tomorrow" countless times. "Pure Massacre" was another good tune. This was a rare good rock album in junior high!

Release a double-platinum record at age 15. Like. A. Boss.

I loved this album. Unfortunately I couldn't get into their other stuff.

Yeah. Nothing ever lived up to Frogstomp. Freak Show was ok. Neon Ballroom was pretty solid though.

Damn, I thought they progressed nicely as a band and began writing complete songs around Neon Ballroom and Diorama. I know a lot of people were wanting more post-grunge riffing, but their later albums are damn solid. To stick to their more bar/power chord era, I honestly prefer Freak Show over Frogstomp.
I wanted to put the opening riff to Slave in the riff thread, but he only embellishes it a couple of times, and the embellishment is what I love.

I agree with all of this. I'm a pretty big fan and followed them from Freak Show through Young Modern (which has some really good songs on it..."Straight Lines" is one of their better pieces of work).
While Frogstomp brought them fame, they really did progress quite a bit over the years. Every album has some great moments, IMHO.

If You Keep Losing Sleep reminds me of something from Gabriel-led Genesis.
Those Thieving Birds, Pt. 1/Strange Behaviour/Those Thieving Birds, Pt.2 is also quite epic.

And most people have never gotten past "Frogstomp" to realize that Daniel's songwriting had taken a journey to what people can call "epic" either.
They aren't teenagers anymore!

And his voice has really developed over the years, as well. When I saw them on the Young Modern tour, he turned in the second most impressive live vocal performance I have witnessed first-hand, numero uno being Jonas Bjerre.

Sill have the ticket...HOB February 5, 1999. Amazing show and still holds true, album wise, to date.

I agree with this
Bands are always in a tough situation...if you keep putting out the same stuff people criticize you for being stale and never changing/not putting in effort
but if you progress and try different sounds they criticize you for that too...its tough to find the perfect balance of trying new things but also staying to your roots
ETA: man I love the 90s
ETA2: Australia is solid for rock bands

I just can't believe they were only 15 years old when Frogstomp came out. Must have been surreal for them.
I'm not saying that they suck for changing their style and progressing... I actually think it's respectable. I just don't like their stuff after Frogstomp. It just doesn't do anything for me.

especially coming from Australia , i wonder if they even knew how big they were, i'm from a town of 6,000 in south arky originally and i was rocking with them.

I can get down with that. You didn't like Freak Show? I always saw that one as a close extension of Frogstomp.
