I have read some extremely uninformed
opinions on this thread. Having an extra set of eyes plus another proven LB coach will be a huge bonus. Thinking about the about all the attention LSU's young LBs will get from Chavis and Steele coaching them up. Steele is consider one of the best LB coaches in college football. As a teacher, I understand how much faster students learn in small groups. This is a huge plus. In addition, he can help point out some weaknesses that he found in other SEC offenses from his experience with coaching at Bama. He could also show us some keys for attacking Bama's defense being that he coached there. This is a great addition.

No one in the coaching community considers Steele to be one of the best LB coaches in the country. Like I mentioned, he road the coattails of some of the best defensive mods in the game (Osbourne, Capers, Andrews, and Saban) and benefited from an embarrassment of riches at the position. His LB units at Clemson wouldn't have been able to play at Vanderbilt.
Trust me if you think Steele will be doing anything other than assisting in the categorizing of film breakdowns and holding a tackling bag you're kidding yourself.
