Posted this on the OT too but I am looking at purchasing a new Weber grill and am torn between the Genesis S-310 and E-310. The S-310 is about $150 more and the only difference that I can see is it is stainless steel vs. porcelain enameled E-310. Is stainless steel worth the extra $150?

TIA

I had this same dilemma about two months ago. I went with the Spirit, and have no regrets. The only thing I don't care for is that the Spirit has the burner knobs on the side tray instead of in the front like the Genesis. That makes that space almost un-usable. It wasn't worth paying the extra $200 in my eyes though.

EDIT: My dumb arse read your post too fast.......anyway, I find that the stainless wasn't worth it regardless.

I know this won't help you at all, but I really like my SS burners. I have no experience with the cast iron burners, though so I can't compare the two.

I have owned both and I absolutely would go with the porcelain model. The SS version is impossible to keep clean.

My current Summit is SS and if I hadda do it over again, I'd get the porcelain version.

The cooking grates are also SS on the SS version, but I don't think the SS give you better performance, and you can always swap those out later.
