Another from back in the day: the 1982 season. It was the strike year. The Saints still had never had a playoff berth.
That year they extended the playoffs to like 16 teams. Because of that, every team that finished 4-5 made the playoffs.
EXCEPT THE SAINTS. They lost EVERY tiebreaker.
And then 1983. They missed the playoffs because Bum passed up a Morten Andersen FG to punt. The rams drove down the field and kicked a FG and the Saints missed a playoff berth again.
I hate Mike Lansford more than any opposing player. EVER.
