Sahin was brought in to be a holding mid when BR had planned to use Gerrard in the hole. Once Gerrard moved deeper, Sahin was put out of position. There wasn't much else to do.

I read that the other day and figured Brendan may have thought he was a little more versatile than he was... You always got the varying comparisons from Xabi to Cesc...
I guess he found out quickly he couldn't and thats why he's gone...
