I posted about engineers a few pages back.
The flamethrower and bomb kits are good for damage in large groups, but as engineers are better for support and healing, the elixir gun seems like the way to go if you want to maximize your profession's utility. From what I've seen, elixir buffs are extremely helpful in dungeons and other party settings.
Re: mesmer... This is a profession that won't be very effective if you don't know what you're doing. There's a lot of focus on conditions and boons, which isn't as immediately satisfying as burst damage from a warrior swinging a hammer.

Another way to make some money it to stop breaking down the blue and gree intems you get only to receive 1 low level mat that you can buy on the TP for 10cp when you could sell the item to the vendor for 17cp. I was breaking down every blue and green item on my play through with Rukky and realized how much money I lost buy doing so.
One thing to look for in crafting recipies is when you finish a heart quest look at the vendor reward list carfully I found a lot of cooking mats and recipies that only cost like 24 karma.
I am putting a crafting guide together for the guild so if you have any good crafting sites or hints and tricks post them here.

Make sure to add in the 400 recipes require you to get upgarde materials by breaking down high level equipment. I found this out last night and purchased the top of the line salvage kits for the extra chance.

I see, that is the reason why sometimes it felt like working a Engineer was going so slowly. its like a gun healer
So I just going to start over and work with a Necro/Engineer as my two mains or vice versa, but I am not a very big support guy, last time it was working with WoW as a priest and that was so much fun

Every class can heal, do dmg, and support.
What separates a good player from a bad one on gw2 is the ability to do all 3 effectively, when the time requires, while not dying
Its not just spamming a heal on a tank and buffing ala wow... shite apparently can get real quick in these dungeons so being able to mitigate incoming threats, while boosting your allies, is essential.

Well said.
Also pay attention to those in your group and what they are doing. Since learning more about combos from this thread i find myself killing things faster solo and i'm more efficient in group play with cleanses, boones, and heals using the combo fields.

Yeah the game really opened up for me after the combo discussion
One thing I noticed... It was believed combos can proc 10%-20% of the time...but...almost 100% of the time I have a fire field down and use a leap finisher, I get the fire aura combo (which is awesome)
Maybe this % changes in groups or maybe combo fields on long cooldowns (from slot skills) have a higher chance to proc

Yeah man I carefully considered it too..and I'm loving it. Hope you enjoy

check your tool tip...maybe it's based on abilities. My ranger's short bow has 4 of 5 abilities that meet the projectile requirement and specifically state 20% chance. That could simply be because of the rate of fire on the short bow is really fast.

Yeah I thoroughly reviewed the tool tip and didn't see..
Must be specific to profession /weapon / skill / finisher / field
But a guardian greatsword leap into a guardian fire field def procs fire aura 100%
My fire field is on a 120 second cd tho... bottom line is combos seem to be balanced well
Seems to proc cleansing bolts when I whirl ontop a light field 100% of the time too.

Yeah the greatsword is money. Both whirls and the leap spell seem to proc 100 percent of the time after i lay down my light field. I use to heal when i had a long poison or bleed still ticking after a kill. Now its second nature to just cleanse myself as i run to my next location.
Having 1 field and 3 finishers with the same weapon is amazing. No need to switch weapons mid combat to get the combos rolling with the exception being the opening blow

Anyone know how to deposit items in the guild bank?
I'm trying to put some of the crafting materials, stones and sigils in there but the only thing I seem to be able to deposit is money.
Also, what is the deal with this soul bound crap. I can't salvage it and can't sell most of it for some reason, it's starting to be annoying.

Soulbound stuff is like that, you you don't need you you just have to destroy it, but keep in mind you might make and alt later that can use it if it's account bound.
If the guild bank is full then you can't deposite, also I am not sure if it's a permission problem. I am not in game right now I am trying to install the drivers you suggested and if that doesn't work I am swapping my video cards. I will look at it when I get back in game if someone else doesn't do it first.
----edit---
First time i downloaded the 32 bit by mistake, looks like the 64 bit is installing, hopefully this will solve my 30 second screen frezzed. I will let the GTX 500 series users know if this fixes it.

Just click and drag from your inventory to the bank.
Posted on 9/12/12 at 6:51 pm to Muppet
Side note, the guild bank is there for you to use so if you see it and can use it then do so, no sense in stuff just sitting in there, just don't clean the thing out.
Posted on 9/12/12 at 6:53 pm to Muppet
Looks like a lot of the stuff in the guild bank could be better kept in the collectibles tab of a mule honestly, seeing as its full
Posted on 9/12/12 at 6:54 pm to DoUrden
Yeah, it's first come first serve as far as equippables your character could use. Even if you aren't at the appropriate level to use it yet. Better that we have more space for deposits than that stuff sits in there for weeks because people are afraid to take it.
We'll have more bank space eventually.

The only way to guild mule is with a 2nd account since banks are shared.

I tried that also but no joy. Bless it's heart, I think it's full. I'll snag a couple things I can use out of there and maybe I can put some of the other things back in after that. I just didn't want to take anything without contributing something in return.
I've picked up some nice weapons, master work stuff, that I can't use on my warrior, seems that would be something someone else could use for a while.
