Had a Rancher 350 that had the same issue. Called my mechanic guy and he said to check where the cable connects to the back of the motor. Sure nuff it was broken off. Come to find out my father in law loaned it to a guy at the camp and he took it through a clear cut. Replaced the connector and glued that sum beech down and never had that issue again.
Also had an issue with it not shifting, the gear would blink in a code fashion, supposedly to tell u what's wrong. I stopped turned it off and back on and go again. Finally had to change the angle sensor.
Will say this I had hat bike for 5 years before I had to change he battery. Kept it another year and bought a manual 500. Love it just as much.
