We're actually starting from Baton Rouge, carrying the bikes on a trailer up to MT, then going. Same on the way back.
I got into motorcycling last year with my girlfriend. When I was shopping around for a bike, I couldn't decide what kind I wanted (cruiser, street bike, dirt bike, etc) so I got a KLR, which doesn't do anything great but does a everything adequately. When I researched it, I kept hearing about how it's the perfect bike for going to Alaska or around the world. So we started planning something last year.
It really came together last October when we rode the Blue Ridge Parkway and mountains for 1500 miles. I said we should do a big Alaska trip and noone backed down! So here we are. Trip of a lifetime and it worked out that everybody could swing it. I know I won't ever be able to pull off 4 weeks of motorcycling in the middle of the summer again, especially in my line of work.
