Five of us are riding our motorcycles to and around Alaska next week. We have 3 KLR650s and 2 BMW G650GS dual sport bikes. I think we're pretty well outfitted for the trip and have our route planned out like this:
-Through Banff and Jasper NP in Canada
-then up to Anchorage on the Alaskan Highway
-Back through Juneau and Vancouver via the bikes and a couple ferries

Any suggestions for activities or sightseeing during the trip? So far we are planning a couple of scuba dives in Resurrection Bay around Seward and a whale watching tour. I'd like to do some salmon fishing if anybody can suggest a good guide. Also, some glacier climbing. We have a cabin in Denali for a couple days too.

Isn't the G650GS a single cylinder bike? That's just crazy talk.

i suggest just taking a day and exploring banff. i know it may be in the beginning of your trip, but thats hands down the most beautiful place i have ever been to

i went in the winter and once in the summer
this is what i got to explore in the summer

When you coming through SE? Taking the ferry back to Bellingham? Riding the AK highway is a trip, an awesome adventure. Stop at Liard Hot Springs near the BC/Yukon border.

I have been all over all of the routes you will be taking. You are in for one hell of an adventure....

Salmon fishing. trout fishing off the bank of a river was awesome for us. we were fishing next to grizzly bears! very calm and never bothered/got close to us and we some very cool action pictures of them

You are gonna want a guide for this. Easily done from Seward via the Exit Glacier or Juneau from several points. Other options too, but these offer the easiest access.

In JNU, hike West Glacier and visit the ice caves. You can access the caves and glacier from the trial. It isn't something you will find on the average tourist agenda.
