What a shamefully moronic thing to put on a supposed championship ring. Who the hell had that idea?

P.S. I love how the moderators arbitrarily anchored threads pertaining to an accurate and widely-reported story about LSU football. It falls squarely within the bounds of this board and doesn't run afoul of any stated regulations. What's the principled rationale?

Don't understand people's fascincation with this. It was indeed an accomplishment for the 2011 team...SEC champions, undefeated regular season, finished #2 nationally.

Not real sure where the issue is...all of the above made 2011 arguably the greatest season in LSU history.

My sarcasm meter is running a little low today so not sure if serious. You realize there were a few seasons where LSU finished #1 nationally? Wouldn't those be ahead of 2011 as greatest ever?

I know it sounds stupid to put this on the rings, but I have seen plenty of rings that have the final ranking on the rings. LSU has done it before on other rings. Just never this high in rankings.

Yeah, and I wouldn't be opposed to someone putting the 3 national championship seasons ahead of the 2011 season.

However, given the SEC schedule, the toughest division in football, elite non-conference wins, and total dominance from Sept-Dec, the argument could definitely be made that the 2011 season was the greatest in LSU history, despite losing the BCSCG against a team LSU had already beaten.

FWIW, I believe the 2011 season was a greater overall season given the above-circumstances than the 2003 and 2007 seasons. Those two seasons ENDED with a bigger win and a big crystal trophy, obviously, but 2011 was better overall IMO.
