Deer Hunting on Pipeline

Anyone have any luck with getting shooter bucks to come out onto the line? We have a long one across our land about 1 mile but it seems we dont have much luck on it ever besides a few does. The reason for my confusion is this pipeline runs along a well managed deer lodge where several 150+ bucks were taken last year. I have a few pics at night but thats about it. I guess my question is....should I plant the whole thing in plot or just about 100 yds to either side of our stands on the pipeline? Should I let in btw each stand grow up so that it isnt so open and just keep a small plot of 100 yds each way?

Pipelines are fun during the rut, probably the only time you will see a good shooter buck on a pipeline chasing does. Def wouldnt plant the whole thing. Plant you an area and hunt it but you would probably have better luck on a shooter buck on the bordering woodline

Our pipeline is about a mile long so we have 4 stands on it. Most of our action comes from across that line from the northern neighbors but we just cant seem to catch one during the day.

I think for the most part big deer won't want to hang out on pipelines, but they do cross them from time to time, so you need to pay attention and be ready to act fast. I'd rather hunt in woods fwiw.

Im a woods hunter too, but it just seems logical to hunt the pipeline as thats where the bucks will be coming from normally. The northern property is a huge WRP section in like year 8. So the brush is thick thick but no food for them. Our woods are full of acorns so they come on over to feed

Yea pipelines can be fun, but like i said i mainly have best luck during rut when deer are chasing.

Early in the morning or late in the afternoon is when you have the best chance of catching one slipping across.
We have a lot of pipelines and powerlines on our lease and kill several bucks off of them.
Hunt later in the morning too, make midday hunts.
I'd definitely plant to increase your chances. If you get a bunch of does out there, then a buck will feel safer and he may trot out there as well. Even if it isn't a shooter buck, a shooter may come run him off.
I don't think you need to plant the entire pipeline. Put a few 1/2 acre plots on both sides of your stands, about 50 yards from the stand. Corn feeders and rice bran won't hurt either.

Next question....we experienced with some feeders on this pipeline and it seemed to spook all deer not just the bucks. Anyone use feeders on a pipeline?

We don't have a feeder anywhere on our property that I am aware of.

They can spook the deer, but they'll get used to them. You can use gravity feeders so they don't spook the deer when they go off.
You have to learn your deer. I hunt in one place where we don't use feeders and in another place where we have one at each stand.

We had one near Papa's stand.
I heard it go off once and couldn'f figure out
what the hell it was for about 10 mins.
