Paul's right. It's like not MLB teams fire their hitting coaches just because players aren't hitting...

If PM really believes this I have lost all respect for him.

Skip is gone guys, can we move on yet?

So CPM is saying that those thousand two strike foul balls and crowding the plate by Stony Brook were probably just a coincidence and not an approach coached by a hitting coach?
Someone is gonna go Dale Brown on him and challenge him to a nude wrestling match in a closet if he really is trying to sell this BS to the fanbase.

Ok coach, tell us exactly what you would do to improve LSU's hitting. Be specific!
OK Bernie I'll do that but first CPM making such a ridiculous ,illogical statement shows he's putting his personal relationship with JS above the interests of the team which is unforgiveable. And up til now I've been a supporter of CPM.Now IMO he needs to go.
Most of our hitters have poor technique. They're unbalanced, and move their heads all around.Jacoby,Dozar,Fields and sometimes Hanover almost fall down after they swing.Did you notice how all the SB batters were balanced and there head was still during their swing?
A number of them pull out and open up when they swing and therefore can't hit an outside pitch except for weak groundballs and pop-ups.
Many have poor approaches.Example:opposing pitcher walks our batter on 4 straight pitches and the next batter swings at a ball high and outside resulting in weak ground ball to ss and double play.
Only Raph and Nola could consistently hit to the opposite field.Even though pitchers are throwing inside more often now b/c of the bats, most still live on the outside and hitting the ball where its pitched is an absolute necessity. You have to let the outside pitch get farther in to go the other way.
None of our batters choke way up with 2 strikes and concentrate on contact.
Now Bernie tell me some specifics of technique and approach evident from coaching.

Perhaps it is time to quit making excuses for the fact that we just got beat by a better team. Life goes on.

15 pages now...and still no one on the Rant has been able to tell me what our hitting philosophy is as a program here at LSU.
Is there no one out there to solve this America's Pastime Puzzler for us?

we dont have a hitting philosophy. the basball team's hitting instruction is about as defined as LSU football offense was back in 2009.

Its interesting to me because some apologists have posted in this thread, but no one has answered the question. I've asked it a half dozen times.
I wonder if my point is getting across?

it's been answered, you must not understand what they are saying.
If you know baseball, you can watch our hitters at the plate and tell how unprepared they look. People have listed alot of factors throughout this thread that they beleive are signs of poor hitting instruction.

I'm aware of all the factors that contribute to us being ill-prepared, as well as what they all form together to look like when we were at the plate last year.
My point is to ask exactly what we try to do and how good we are at accomplishing it.
The point is there is no discernable discpline exhibited which would allow us to execute whatever it is that the Low Tee Drill is trying to teach our hitters.
Without discipline and integrity, all systems will collapse. Such is the case with LSU Baseball's hitting philosophy and "offensive system".

Their philosophy is to hit it back up the middle because the pitcher is the weakest fielder on the infield. Wow, Javi is a genius.

Then why do teams hire hitting coaches and pay them?Mainereri certainly has overrated his hitting coach.

I know you mean that tongue in cheek but I tend to think you're hitting it on the head. The problem is going back up the middle great if it's head high with some pace. Rolling it past the mound to a pinched middle infeild produces DPs... we did that all year.
As poorly as we executed at the plate this year I can't recall more than one squeeze but I must have yelled for one 20 times, at least.
We had no killer instinct at all this year.
