Aside from Mahtook, who had more talent alone that needed little "coaching", Javi isn't responsible for the 09 teams hitting prowess. I think that lies with Rooney and Godwin. They recruited those kids and brought them along. They left in 08 to coach UCF, where they have elevated that program. They scored more runs on SB than we did.
Schimpf, Dean, Clark, Mitchell, and Ochinko were all pretty polished hitters prior to 09. Sanchez had little to so than just manage them. Larry Coker syndrome basically.
