Is MLB now against warmup pitches too? I was against it from a straegy stand point, I was wrong.

Who gives a frick what ESPN and Baltimore think, he has not signed yet, he is JUST and LSU player. He pitched 12 pitches in the first game. ESPN hailed that Texas pitcher who in 2009 pitched 162 pitches.

Wrong. The concern for the MLB team is the same as for the player. You never want to risk his future. No recruit would ever go to such a program. Even still, the ESPN commentator was full of shite. Gausman was fine, as was his pitch count. Turned out to be a great decision. More importantly, it did not impact health or future of Gausman, which PM would never do anyway.

Because PM was putting Gausman's career at risk and Gausman is no longer just LSU's player. He is part of a major league team now.

He said after the game he consulted a bunch of people, including the Orioles organization

I didn't like the decision, but it had nothing to do with risk to Gausman. Gausman was in no greater risk than normal IMO.

PM made a gutsy call. If he had started anyone else and loss the game then this board would have fried him.

The call was the right one and it proved to be so.
He has a better feel for this team than the coaches in the stands or this board.

manufactured controversy?

bullshite sensationalism. Gausman threw fewer pitches yesterday than he did in the Regional game. This is total bullshite. Why don't we see these kinds of stories when Mark Appel throws over 150 pitches for Stanford in a regular season game against Oregon?

Not a legit comparison

I know you weren't responding to me , but Appel is a similar pitcher, and he was allowed to throw 150+ pitches in a game. No ESPN story on that.

frick ESPN!!!!!!! I guess the sensationalism they like to create has made it down the network to espnu. I guess it's a company wide initiative.

If saban over worked a RB they'd say he was helping the kid with his pro career. ESPN HATES LSU!!!
