I just watched the replay of the game. ESPN interviewed PM right after that botched steal. PM said that somebody has to tell the runner that it was a walk.
So add PM to the list of people who believe that the HP umpire should have done a better job.

Had the SB catcher thrown that ball into the gap allowing Snickeris to reach 3rd would CPM or any fans be complaining?
CPM also said in the paper it was the right call.
Also the official scoring is wrong if they credited Snickeris with a steal.
