Austin Rivers apparently has a guarantee to be drafted in the latter part of the Draft Lottery. The first 14 picks in the draft are held by lottery teams. Thus, potential landing spots for Rivers include the Pistons (#9), Hornets (#10), Blazers (#11), Bucks (#12), Suns (#13) and Rockets (#14). The Hornets are not a likely candidate with Eric Gordon such a big part of their future. Same with the Bucks with their depth at the guard position with Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings.

That leaves the Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets.

I think he might be wrong in his assessment of us.

I still don't think Eric Gordon is a done deal yet. I want Austin Rivers! I do NOT want Damian Lillard. Weber State? C'mon.

Yeah, you can never have too many scorers. I hope we get another pick and get one of those seven footers like lenord or ezeli and work with them. That too me is a awesome draft.

same, I don't think having Gordon would stop us from taking Rivers.
They are both able to bring the ball up for us and score. I hope we're the team that takes him, it would be great having two potential 20ppg type guys in the same backcourt

Monty spoke very highly of rivers when he was in NOLA. If DL is gone I'd love to get rivers. We are following the Spurs model so rivers could be our scorer of the bench ala ginobili.

If it's the suns I'm blowing my brains out. Least favorite player in this draft.

I'm not a big fan of Rivers but this is a stupid comment.

Didn't really mean that skill wise, more personality wise. Guy seems pretty arrogant. But I guess I would take him if Lamb and TRoss are gone. Gotta take a SG.

what does a team get out of guaranteeing a player that they will draft them?

The player refuses to work out for other teams, his agent tells other teams he has a promise and wants to go to that team, so it discourages other teams from picking him first.

It's a way to manipulate the system for both sides.
