What I am trying to explain to you is that IF Jenkins is leaving the team then it's 99.9999% likely that it has to do with other underclassmen moving ahead of him on the depth chart. Jenkins isn't going to leave LSU if he thinks he has a shot at playing time. That's just common sense. So when I say 'trust the coaches' I mean that if they think there are better players on the roster then you and I aren't at practice to dispute this. And if there are players that have moved ahead of Jenkins on the depth chart or are giving him a run for his money then we clearly have more depth at this position than you think.
My understanding is that Jenkins occupied the fourth CB slot at the end of spring practice (Simon, Mathieu, Collins, Jenkins). As such, he was in a position equivalent to that of Ron Brooks last season (Claiborne, Mathieu, Simon, Brooks). Brooks saw a non-trivial amount of playing time as the fourth CB. Moreover, when injuries (Reid) or suspensions (Simon, Mathieu) sidelined starters or caused a reconfiguration of the secondary, Brooks inherited their snaps and was on the field continuously. Accordingly, it stands to reason that Jenkins was going play this season and could ascend to a prominent, key role if injuries sabotaged Mathieu, Simon, or Collins. (Not to mention the fact that Jenkins is only a RSF and could have devloped into a starter as an upperclassman when Simon/Mathiue depart.)
My only point being that losing a talented, young fourth string CB in a defense that relies heavily on nickel isn't particularly comforting, especially when there is no experienced depth behind him (the freshmen CB's may be awesome, but they've never taken a snap) and Vinson decamped as well. All things being equal, it would be better for LSU if Jenkins stays with the team. I'd be disappointed to see him go. That's really all I'm saying.

Are either of these guys leaving related to Coop leaving? Either a relationship thing, or that there is some shift in philosophy that they didn't care for (assuming that The Chief is still watching over all things defense)?

Devall was from Tennessee and had no connection to LSU.
Peters didn't get an offer.
Davis lied to LSU for about a year.
Landon Collins follow poon.
Since you probably LOVE Nick Saban.. did you know 6 of the top 10 players in Bama didn't sign with Bama?
3 of them went to Florida State.
Sometimes that happens.
