I had a buddy who tried to do this and I listened to his schpeil... I even bought a term policy to help him out. It was a good policy at a good price.
The problem I have is that they want you taking them to your warm market contacts (Friends, Family) before you get your licence. Therefore you don't get commission on those sales. When you do get your license finally, then you have to cold call or do the same thing to the schmucks you recruit... take their warm market contacts to make commission.
The recruiting part is also problematic for me. I don't want to harass my friends and family for money and I don't want them telling me all their personal financial info. That's got to be awkward. If I had a brick and mortar office and they came to me that's one thing...

my years selling ins I found that primericas 30 yr term was as inexpensive as any I saw.. actually they were one of the first that came up with the 30 year term.
The companies I worked for only offered 20 year.
The fact that they have a good/fair product has nothing to do with the structure the company uses to conduct and grow business.
Which is a pyramid

Its shady because the whole point of them trying to bring on new agents is so they can get their friends and families signed up with insurance plans and investments they probably don't need or want.
as if you couldnt do the same fricking thing if your buisness card didnt read primerica, say it said
prudential

I was at a party at Collis Temple's home (beautiful place btw) and Collis introduced me to the idea of joining Primerica. He's one of the big dogs in the company for those who don't know. I went to one of the meetings and the whole deal came off as shady to me. I told Collis no thanks and left.

Why don't you sell anymore?
I do.
Just chose different business that pays me salary, expenses, plus commission.
Only thing I hated about ins was all the exp falls on agents shoulders.
Commission only job.

Then if it a quality product then why use that business model? Are there any salaried worked in these companies? It is a damn good set up for the company because it seems like there is little spend on advertisement, but IMO I think the model is somewhat unethical.. Which doesn't make it illegal so go for anyone who has success within these companies. It just seems like a majority of their business comes from the average person they know will likely make a few sells then will not be able to climb up after that.
For those in support of it, why do they make people have to sell so much before they can actually start making money? If I recall, the guy I knew who was in it made nothing or very little for the first sells he had to make. My first thought when he told me about how it worked was that they are obviously banking on most people to not make it big so they are basically getting them to sell to their family and friends without even paying them.

If you mean I know somebody that sells for them and has for 20 plus years and that I used to be in the ins business myself, then sure I have ties to it.
The deal here is that some of you look like fricking morons when you attempt to run things down that you dont understand and dont have all the facts.
But hey, thats what this board is best at.. so Im not surprised.

I had a friend join Primerica. The week before, he was a truck driver. Part of his indoctrination was that he had to bring CT3 along to meet 10 of his friends/family and give them the pitch. I reluctantly agreed for his sake. I didn't buy anything but I did ask CT3 this question.... "best case scenario from this meeting, what happens? I buy X amount of policies or what?" His response, "No, best scenario is you come work for me". That told me right there where he made his money.
Also, they made my friend starting leasing a high end luxury sedan with a personalized license plate to portray a certain image.
The whole thing is sleazy.

Do you know someone in it? You are going pretty far out of your way to call people out on something that you are not affiliated with in anyway and have never worked for. Especially since two of my family members that are affiliated with insurance companies hate it and think it is a major scam, and from what I have been told most insurance agents feel that way about it.
