Wild baby woodducks at the house (UPDATED w/ a few pictures)

All of these are wild woodducks that hatched from one of the many woodduck boxes in the area.
The biggest of the groups has about 23 little ones. They pond hop all around. This was the first time we've seen them in our pond. They stayed in the crawfish pond and the reservoir pond behind it all day.
The smaller group has 7 babies, they are older. They usually stay around our 3 ponds
This last picture is just the after work bar where all the ducks come stop by for a nice cold glass or crack corn

Guys i know where we can get some bass baits

Awesome.
I was talking with someone today at work about woodies. She and her husband put up 6 boxes. She was telling me of a guy who put up a box and had babies but there's no water nearby.
I later searched and read that they will nest a pretty good distance away from water. Was shocked to read that.

We also have 12 little wood ducks in the pen, 6 summer french babies, and 1 lone little pintail

I know there are no bass (at least big enough to eat them) because we drained it dry a while back to flood the crawfish pond

Keep the OB away from those bass baits or they will never grow up.

I just seent this on FB, very cool. A goose laid an egg on my lawn not to long ago, another one came along and rolled it onto the concrete and broke it

Sounds like this kind of goose:

That's awesome and a coincidence. I came home from work today to find a hen that had been nesting in a box that I had put up 2 years ago swimming around with 7 little ones. It's the first time I had seen the hatchlings and hadn't seen momma in awhile so was kinda surprised. She's even got 'em going into the floating duck house that I built for our Pekings.

I'd always hear them fly over in the morning and evenings when on the deer stand, at least a mile away from the nearest water.

That last pic looks like Mexican whistlers. We have a councilman in Thibodaux that you may want to call to help eradicate the infestation.
