I've never read any, but I'm looking into getting Gregg Allman's new autobiography "My Cross to Bear".

Scar Tissue about front man of RHCP Anthony Kiedis.

Not sure it would be categorized as an "autobiography" or a documentary, but DiG! is really good. It follows The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre; and the rise and fall of each band.
Edit: this is a movie, not a book. Sorry for the mixup.

Just got done with My Cross to Bear. Good read.
Would love to read a book about Dickey's side of the story. Does one exist?
Also, Gregg mentions Duane's daughter is in the process of writing a bio on her dad. Pretty excited about that prospect.

Reading Keith Richards' "Life" right now. So far I have enjoyed it.

One of my favorite books. But technically not an autobiography. I wish it was.

I finished that one last week. Great book. Good insight. Every page is about music, drugs or women.
Claptons autobio is amazing. My favorite autobio. Great stories about jamming with Beatles, Jimi, SRV, Skydog. Wrecking ferraris, heroin, women. Clapton is Sex, Drugs, and rock n roll

I know, it was early, but the book deserved mentioning.

Autobiography or biography?
Biographies I enjoyed:
"Hammer of the Gods" about Zeppelin
"This Wheel's on Fire" about Levon/The Band (I think co-authored by Levon)
"Point Blank" about Springsteen
"Moon" about Keith Moon
"A Dreamer of Pictures" about Neil Young
"A Saucerful of Secrets" about Pink Floyd
"Riders on the Storm" about the Doors (by Densmore)
"Crosby, Stills, and Nash" is practically a textbook
I enjoy Stephen Davis' biographies the most of any. He wrote those first two. I think he has a Rolling Stones one, too.

Recently read Richards'/"Life" and Dylan's "Chronicles." I love dope but I have to say, about 200 pages into Keith's book I was ready to detox. How that fricker is alive—well, there's only one of two explanations: God ... or the devil.
