re: Quick Breakdown of Losses Under Miles

I guess instead of preparing for the upcoming season, that is full of hope and expectation, some fans rather look for the negatives.
This is the single most reason I can't stay on this site more.
You come here to get pumped up about LSU and you usually end up leaving let down by all the negativity.
I'm pretty sure the site owners never intended this site to be that way.
I'm can't wait for the season to start and see our new QB in action.
I am proud of the product LSU puts on the field.
Besides the MNC game, LSU won most of the games going away and were fun to watch.
That's a testament to the coaching staff and the university.
Here's to 2012

Comments... was any other loss bigger than the three mentioned above.
Yes.
I've said this before and I'll say it again the 2006 Auburn loss was the biggest loss (besides the 11 NC game of course)
Had LSU won that game, LSU would have made three straight trips to Atlanta (05, 06, and 07) With the way LSU was playing at the end of 06, it's very possible LSU would have beaten Florida in the SECCG and Ohio State in the NC Game. LSU could have possibly had 2 straight SEC Championships and 2 straight National Championships, if we had won the 2006 Auburn game.

The comment was about my decisions aren't based on being mad or glad about CLM.
This isn't about being perfect. This about being an ELITE coach. Don't talk about successes and not expect being reminded of the failures.
In the '11 NCG, if CLM would have just had a gameplan that would have allowed them to compete, then I'd have a glass of KoolAid right now. Oh yeah, I almost forgot... Also in '05, '06', '07, '08, '09 and '10.
With that, it makes me wonder just how much is he really going to let Met QB this team.

I wonder just how CLM will get in the way of the offense this year. Do you need more of an explanation?

this is the ONLY thing that concerns me about this season. If he lets him do the same kind of thing he let JR do, this team will NOT be beat.

What are the names of these "elite coaches" who never lose or make bad decisions? Saban? nope. Stoops? Nope. Spurrier? Absolutely not (even though I like him).
On a different note, I actually think Miles should get more credit for his coaching over the last 4 years than he has. We have had below average qb play (yes....with Lee as well as JJ), yet we have contended for, and won, championships. That is incredible.
Look at other schools who have had to play with below average qbs? Stoops/OU without Bradford? Collapse. Brown/UT post Young/McCoy? Terrible. Auburn post-Newton? Terrible. You get the point.

No they aren't. Miles needs to keep his hands away from the offense and let his OC do his job.

Ok...so in '05,'06,'07(most prolific O in LSU history), and '08 (minus the INTs), Miles had nothing to do with that. But in '09 (which actually wasn't that bad), '10, and '11.....that was all Miles because it wasn't that great.
does that about sum it up?
so basically y'all are just picking and choosing years and saying the bad ones were on Miles while the good ones were because of the OC. remember who we had for an OC/QB coach for 4 years as well.
thats rantard logic

I didn't choose ANY years. Don't put words in my mouth. All I am saying is he needs to let his OC do his job. This team has the potenial to be an offensive machine IF they use Mett right.

You mean like they have with every decent qb over the past 7 years?

Ok. I'm not comparing CLM to other coaches. His body of work speaks for itself, good and bad. If you are giving credit give it to the DC's. Yes CLM hired them. As well as the rest of the staff, even the unsuccessful ones.
The QB situation is entirely on CLM. He recruited them.
What point? That all of those schools mentioned have average defenses? Any of them SEC caliber? Absolutely not. Bring up a comparable team and make your point.
I like Spurrier also. Saban as well. But Stoops is in the same class as Carrol.

You're kidding right? JL/JJ was an offensive machine?

thats my point. y'all have no idea whether or not he's letting the OC do his job

and you're assuming Miles can't do it....he has to let the OC do it. Although Miles did just fine before when he had a competent QB in JR and Flynn. Hell....he lost 3 games in 2 years with JJ/Lee.
i honestly don't give a shite if Mett throws for 100 yards a game and we run for 350.....as long as we have more points when time runs out.

AGREED!!!!!!!!!. I am on your side on this one CHOC. I think you just like to argue for the sake of arguing. I see ZERO losses this year. NONE. ZILCH. NADA.This team has the potential to beat EVERYone by 25-30 points. Yes EVEN bama.

I agree. Not having a good qb was on Miles. However, the point is, show me a coach who has a top rated qb every single year. There are none. OU seems to have more than most, yet they still collapsed without Bradford.
Auburn is in the SEC. You want another school with a top D? Let's look at the top 10 defenses from last year along with their Final Coaches Poll rankings. Most of these schools actually had above average to damn strong qbs yet still finished substantially behind LSU in the final polls:
Alabama (#1), LSU (#2), UGA (#20), So. Car. (#8), Mich. State (#10), FSU (#23), Illinois (NR), Wisconsin (#11), UF (NR), and PSU (NR).
Out of those schools, UGA, MSU, and Wisconsin all had top fight qbs....yet all finished well behind LSU. The other schools on the list arguably had better qbs than both JJ/Lee.
Edited to add: Miles may have hurt us by failing to have at least an average qb in place the past 4 years, but we have had a pretty damn impressive run regardless of that and I credit Miles, along with all of the assistant coaches. Now let's go get us another crystal football.

he also is a lock for some really stupid losses. When that is no longer an issue, I'll start drinking the CLM KoolAid.
Right...Tenn in 05...anyone not understanding that L is drinking the mentally challenged "KoolAid".
Ga was Top 10 in 05.
06 Top 10 Aub. and #1 Fla.
07 2 OT L's on the way to SEC/NC.
08 we lost our starting QB and went with NO playing time guys and one QB had a nightmare year with ints.
09 at Old Miss in a "stupid" L and 3 L's to Top 10 teams including #1 Bama.
2010 a L to NC Aub at Aub. and BCS bowl team Ark at Ark.
2011 L in BCSNCG.
How those L's equate to "really stupid losses" is beyond me.
