Have Any of You Ever Bought Music From Amazon?

I have a $100 gift certificate to the website, and I'm contemplating on purchasing music from them.
Question: If I purchase songs/ albums, will it download them to my iTunes account? Or will I have to use the Amazon Cloud Player & purhcase the Amazon Cloud Drive?

i've bought music from them, but it's been in CD format, not digital

You can add them to iTunes

So when I buy the song, it will directly add it to my iTunes account? Or it'll download the music to my hard-drive and I'll have to upload it myself to iTunes?

The "Amazon MP3 Downloader" will add it directly to iTunes for you

yes, it downloads them in mp3 format and you can configure the download manager to automagically import them into iTunes for you
since they are generally cheaper than iTunes, I usually use them now to buy music, and I have it available on the cloud, which is nice

$100 gift card to Amazon and you want to buy music? Wow. That's the last thing I would think about purchasing with that kinda $ to be able to use on almost anything.

I have when I wanted the actual physical copy of a CD.

My computer crashed with a ton of music that I had on it, and I didn't have it backed up anywhere. It was pirated music and burned CD's (probably karma), so now I have to buy music - I'd almost forgotten what that's like until recently, and it's expensive as hell.
Just put in a new audio system in my boat, and really need some boat music for the summer.

I'd use that $100 for an external hard drive so it doesnt happen again

Buying it from Amazon is like backing it up. You can always download it again later. Yes, the amazon downloader should be installed and it will add it to iTunes.
I use it to buy some albums that I never expect to find in a record store.

sure, for anything you buy from Amazon, but if he rips any cds to his hard drive, he needs to back them up

You should buy an external hardrive and get with your friends to compile their music on it. Me and my buddies did it and now we have what we call "the brick" with like 140,000 songs on it.

I've bought several used CD's off Amazon for like .59 cents a pop

Yeap, if you keep an eye out you can get some very, very good deals. Even on some brand new CD's. Last month I bought three items that I had been wanting for forever for a grand total of $10 (shipping included).

He can upload all cds that he rips onto his hard drive to his amazon cloud drive as well. The cloud drive is good for backing everything up.
I started buying music from Amazon when I got my first android phone. Now I buy all my music there. It's generally cheaper than itunes, and there is not any DRM protection (I'm not sure if Itunes still DRM protects their music as it's been a few years since I've gotten anything there). The only problem that you might run into is with Itunes exclusive stuff. But that doesn't happen all that often, the only thing that comes to mind is Beirut's newest, The Rip Tide, which was released on Amazon a couple of weeks later.

true, but you have to pay for the extra storage

Yeah, I think the Amazon Cloud Storage is $20 for 20GB. But once the music is put on my iTunes account, I should be able to use the iCloud, right?
