Why?

Sure, anything can happen. But if you look at last year's roster and schedule vs. this year's in a vacuum, we have a way better chance of going undefeated this year than we did last year.

I'm not one to make outlandish statements often, but this very well could be LSU's most talented and deepest team ever.

imagine this squad if Mo and Brockers stayed put. imagine last years squad if PP7 didn't jump to the league. I know it's "woulda', coulda', shoulda'"...but does anybody seriously think that Bama beats us with a defensive backfield of PP7, Mo, Tyrann, Brooks, Reed, Simon and Taylor?

c'est la vie.

Agree we've got a good shot. Not saying we can't make it. But sometimes teams underperform when they have too many expectations placed on them, and overperform (like last year), when they weren't expected to win it all.

Just sayin', no need to predict 14-0 in the summertime. Let's see how the team looks in the fall.

Looking ahead, as rightfully confident as you are of our chances of success this year, you'd be lying if you couldn't admit that a series of not-entirely-too-unlikely plays could turn our 14-0 into 10-3.

That's what made last year so absolutely, lining up of the planets, freaking amazing. I think I know how bowling a 299 feels.

Now think about last year's confluence of time, space, and meaujeaux. A simply ungodly killer schedule, defeating two BCS conference champions, two BCS bowl victors, three of the final top five teams (four if you count the NCGame, we did beat ourselves) and five of the top twenty five, not to mention the MF national champions. And we won most games running away, despite using two brittle quarterbacks with psyches held together with duct tape and juicy fruit, by consitantly combining solid, minimal-error defense and a highlight-reel's worth of spectacular feats of individual effort that bore fruit.

I like our chances this year as much as ever, and swagger has a way of self-fulfilling, but a few more-human moments, and that bubble could burst. This is going to be a fun summer. . .
