Most classic rock stations start their eras around the time of the British Invasion. Elvis was already established as a night club entertainer in the class of Sinatra and Dean Martin, et al by that time.

Yep Elvis is more 50's rock. Or is lumped in there with those guys. He was already THE KING by the time the mid 60's hit.
