There are a TON of great photos of the new ground, BBVA Compass Stadium.
They cut the ribbon this morning, first match will be on the 12th of May, I believe. Man, as much as I like old sports venues like T. S., Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Craven Cottage, etc. I would LOVE to see a match in this new venue.

I'd like to go this season, but to do so would probably involve asking my wife to sit outside in Houston in July or August ( ), as my travel card is pretty full for the rest of the year.

I considered getting tickets for the match vs the Galaxy but it's a 1:30 game in late May. F that noise, I've been in Houston long enough to know I'm going to have a bad time with that.

They need to call Qatar and get on that air-conditioned stadium technology.

I can't wait for May 12th. I plan on being in the stadium more often than not this season.

I've been to several Dynamo games at Robertson, and the heat and humidity while watching an evening/night game is at least bearable. Of course I'm 21 and at the peak of my notorious athletic prowess. BBVA Compass Bank Stadium is supposed to feature some kind of outdoor cooling system to make the spectator's experience better. Maybe they'll install some misters like its the outdoor patio at a B Double Dub restaurant.

Beer. Lots of ice cold beer.
Supposedly the open mesh exterior facade of the stadium was designed in such a way as to not inhibit any flow of air or breezes in and out of the stadium. This is good thinking but any breezes or airflow will still be Houston in the summer.

That shite is tight.
I love how the stadium is right downtown rather than 20 miles out in the burbs.
Great design and work on that stadium. Here in Atlanta, we (the taxpayers) are about to spend $9M to blow up a perfectly good 19-year old Georgia Dome then another $300M to help build a new one for a shitty Falcons team. Imagine what a soccer place we could build with just $100M?

That's the way of Atlanta. Visited there in 2005, hadn't been since I was a kid. If there were 10 buildings, not on the campus of Georgia Tech, in central Atlanta, that were older than 40 years color me shocked.
One of those was the house where Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone With the Wind but I didn't see much else. Atlanta doesn't appreciate its history and maintaining, or preserving their structural history.
