Looking to get my first credit card to build some credit, what should i look for? what are some good cards?

How old are you? In College? More info would be nice for me at least.
I got my first credit card through my dad. He was a USAA member and they had a College Start credit card. I was building credit when I was 18. If you can do something similar, I would suggest that.

You can establish credit without having to get a credit card.

To the OP: it doesn't matter what card you get, just that you get one.

Once you have established credit you'll have a better range of options.

Not true, not every credit card reports to all three major credit bureaus.

chase freedom, if you can't get approved for that then try discover more

I just got the Capital One Venture card. Double the miles and I love it.

Discover Card offers a credit card that is pretty good for students. No annual fee, 1% cash back on everything and 5% on special things through out the year. I think when I was in college they gave me a $2000 credit limit.
