Just to give you guys on this side of the OB world a heads up if you haven't check out the new indoor range at Tactical you need to give them a try. 25 yard max range you can shoot up to a .50 BMG. They also have a decent rental selection started as well.

They did their homework on this range...its very nice a little pricey but very nice.

And no I don't work there own stock in the company or anything like that.

I went to the Arms Room on Thursday and Sunday (www.armsroomtx.com). It is nice as well. It gets crowded on the weekend though. There are also two outdoor ranges down Gulf Freeway.

I have never been to the Range at the park down I-10. I hear it is nice as well, just out of the way for me.

The Range in the Park (American Shooting Center)gets crowded and the range officers there are a little much to handle at times. Can't say I blame them with some of the idiots they deal with.

The outdoor range in Texas City can get crowded, and they are somewhat over the top. A gun range is only as safe as its most irresponsible member though.

The main thing I dislike is having to take my guns out of their carry cases when I go to these places.

new indoor range at Tactical

thanks for the heads up, i'm out that way often and been looking for a place besides american shooting center which I actually don't mind to bad, just the other sunday at 10am I went out there and it was almost empty
sat next to a dude with a FN-2000 and FN90, was pretty cool to see those guns up close

and how much are the range fees at that new place in Katy?

30 for the hour no limit or additional fees for bringing as many guns as you would like to shoot.

But they only want brass shot there. They do check the ammo prior to shooting.

But the range is all automated targets can be set up to go different things for different shooting situations rapid fire is allowed also

Oooohhhhhh!!!!

No rapid fire at Clear Creek outdoor.

Arms Room rents full auto, so rapid fire is ok there.

It is still hard to digest paying to go shoot guns after growing up on a huge farm.

Yeah 30 an hour like said its not cheap, but hell last time I was at American with the 3 pistols I brought and the extra targets I bought I was pretty close to that. But of course that price is all day. But I don't really need more than a hour of shooting pistols or rifles until I have had enough.

1. Very diplomatic -- I'm not inclined to ever go back after seeing how those guys run that range.

I agree that they have to deal with idiots. But the solution is to politely require an idiot to leave -- not act like Nazis when dealing with the "normal" shooters.

2. What's the name of the indoor range near Katy ?

Tactical Firearms is the name of the store and range.

Agreed about American glad I finally have a place close to katy so I don't have to mess with them unless I want to shoot clays or long range stuff.

Me either but I have had them get on numerous people while I have been there and next time you go to the range look in the tin roof and see how many bullet holes are in the tin roof.

To many young kids with money, is a big problem at that range, that learn everything from a youtube video instead of a parent.

I understand why they do act the way they do, but I also feel if I want to fire a 2 round burst I shouldn't be kicked off the range for it or threatened to be kicked off the range.

.

Nor have I -- but I have seen them behave like Nazis to others at the range who, as far as I could see, were doing nothing wrong.

I understand that some folks lack solid gun handling skills. And I am well aware of some of the history of events at ASC.

I deal with inexperienced shooters on a very regular basis -- perhaps you do as well. I have never found the need to treat folks the way I've seen people treated at ASC.
