how about we name the team something historic.
the battle of new orleans during the war of 1812 was the most decisive land victory over the british, and a defining moment in the us achieving absolute independence.

No, no no.
Battle is way too difficult for a mascot.
Let's just be the Rougarou and make it a wolf. That way I can wear my NC State gear and rep still.
It is Louisiana culture. It is unique. It isn't a pussy mascot like a pelican. I think it would quite frankly be one of the best mascots in all of sports. People would be fascinated by it. It has a story and is part of our culture.
