Kanye might be the most overrated motherfricker on the planet. His hype is a testament to the sad state of popular music these days.

One of my favorite artists. Two or three classic albums. Musical genius as a producer. Solid rapper. I definitely don't agree with a lot of his opinions otherwise, but I don't hate him because of it. His controversial outspoken nature makes him one of the few rappers that I actually take interest in outside of their music. He does some pretty cool and interesting stuff like that small Runaway film he did. This week he was in Dubai filming a movie for his upcoming label's collaborative album trying to incorporate and correctly portray the Dubai culture in it. Amazing concerts by all accounts.
And then there's the undeniable respect he has for pretty much all corners of music. For instance, since the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album recording era, he has recorded with Elton John, Alicia Keys, James Blake, Diplo, Justice, Frank Ocean, Mannie Fresh, 2 Chainz, Future, Ma$e, Jadakiss, etc. That's a pretty good variety of talents, especially within the hip-hop/rap subgenres.
Plus he's had some songs with VERY good substance become mainstream hits like "Jesus Walks", "All Falls Down", and Can't Tell Me Nothin'". And, I don't know if people have noticed, by Kanye has pretty much shut himself up and never really says anything to media anymore since the Taylor Swift incident. He's just let his music speak for him since then. Seems like someone learned from his mistakes and improved upon them.
