Johnny Jones only had two 20 wins seasons and one NCAA tournament appearance when Trent was hired. His resume wasn't good at all.
Now his resume isn't much better this time around but he does have a good streak of 20 win seasons and another NCAA tournament appearance.
Joe Joe hired Trent because he saw the talent and the great players LSU had coming back and he knew LSU could win now (that season) and brought in a coach that he thought could coach them up and get there. He said that himself on Hanagriff's show. He wasn't really thinking about the future (which sounds like crap) but Trent was more of a win now hire and hope he can build the program back after all the 2009 talent left guy.
