Since this game is coming out soon, I applied to CDProjekt Red for one of the 1000 early review copies they had a drawing for and I got selected. I have never won something via a random draw in my life so I am quite happy to try this out.

Damn that is awesome. I wanted to play this game but alas I don't have a gaming PC, I'm glad it is coming to 360. How do you think it will translate?

Oh the gf said she misses talking to you on FB, when she gets bored there is never anyone on that she wants to chat with since you canceled.

Ultra settings on PC (I've tried them) make this game absolutely gorgeous but from what I've seen this will be one of the better looking games put on console. CD Projekt put all their resources into porting for 360 so I'm thinking this game will translate extremely well and be a worthwhile play for most people.

Have you read the book it is based on, The Last Wish?

Indeed, after I completed the first Witcher I purchased it. Sapkowski does a great job making a fantasy universe.

I just downloaded the epub file. I'll get to it after I read A Wise Man's Fear.

First off, I'm going to go ahead and say that this game is a technical masterpiece seeing as to how it looks this good on console.
I just got through the prologue section which consists of five different parts designed to bring you up to speed on the story and serve as a tutorial of sorts on the game mechanics. Combat as a whole is rather unforgiving, as an example you have the basic functions of attacking, parrying, blocking, and dodging right from the beginning. A stamina bar represents what you can do, as blocking an attack drains the bar and your guard can be broken by trying to block everything that comes your way. It is necessary to exploit openings and utilize dodging until you can upgrade your abilities to complement your personal style. There are two different types of weapons - steel and silver. Steel is for fighting humans and silver is for beasts, and trying to fight beasts with steel and humans with silvers will always end up with Geralt getting his arse kicked by the way, you might as well be hitting the enemies with a foam sword. There is a bit of "magic" in the game which comes through as Geralts ability to manipulate his hands to produce "signs" which function as a shield spell, fire-bolt, persuasion, etc and they have cutscene significance as well (meaning there are triggers for them). There is also a potion/crafting ability that I haven't had much time with but in order to utilize the potions they must be made prior to combat and also used prior to combat so that the effects will last afterwards, no guzzling down health potions if I remember correctly.

Whoa. Sounds sick. Didn't realize combat was that intense.

CDProjekt is so awesome for doing this, part of me is just happy that I received a game for free but this game is just damn good and I'll get around to make a boss review for this game.
