What is the best description of a Steve Spagnuolo defense?

I know he likes to get pressure from his front four.
I know he likes bigger, stouter linebackers.
But what type of coverages does he like to run? I've seen conflicting things on this board. I read somewhere that he likes to play a Tampa-2 coverage. If that's true, our CB's aren't really suited for that.
Anybody more familiar with his scheme?

Good read.
Man, we can free up 6 mil by cutting Smith?
If he gets suspended, that might be the best course of action.

We'll need a playmaker at safety to replace Harper.
A cornerback to help Greer and Robinson.
And a true pass rusher in the front four, it seems.
I hope Cam Jordan steps up big time.

Spagnuolo prefers tall/angular cornerbacks that can play man-to-man coverage and also likes playmakers at safety.
Uh oh.

Hopefully Romeus can live up to his "1st round talent" hype.

I always forget about Romeus.

What I love about all this, is we were one of the strongest teams last year coming into the playoffs.
And we got there with a bottom 5 defense that was as predictable as it was inneffective.
If Spags is half as good as people say and half as predictable as GW, watching the Defense this year should be a lot of fun.

Will Smith renegotiated to veteran minimum... for a $6mil bonus Saved $4.78mil towards cap
Still looks like cap pain to deal with next year.

Ah ok.
I'm serious...this cap better be raised.

I am so excited for next season it scares me.

I'm making my way through watching last season again. Watching the defense is painful, but at the same time it gives me hope. Players like Galette, Wilson and P-Rob have got me pumped.
Even in some of our better defensive performances last year (Minnesota for instance), their were still these fricks up. I don't if running a hyper aggressive defense led to them being undisciplined or if the players were just unfocused.

Romeus, that's Spartacus-esque! He needs to break words with Spag!

what has been mentioned before about the D last year was how predictable it became. When common folk fans like us can see it, ya know it is bad. That's a big part of what my hopes for improvement this year are based on anyway.
Similarly, that is the genius of Payton as a playcaller. Six years later ya still never know what is coming. Occasionally he might get a little too cute but on a whole ya gotta love how many times it still gets a wow. As in, I didn't see that coming.

Like the reverse with reggie in the bucs game a few years ago in the fourth.

That falls more on execution of the play. Reggie pitches with his right hand heading to the left sideline (meaning he would have to pitch across his body). There is no reason he couldn't have handed it off with his left hand or pitch it with two hands. Devery could have run for at least twenty yards! But at the end of the day we should have made a more conventional attempt at that fourth down.
