I blame them both.

The coach is there to make sure he does the right thing, especially on a high, deep, fly ball like this.


You don't stare at the ball and not say anything. You make sure he knows to tag, regardless if he really knows or not.

Coach got caught watching the ball, as did Pigget, as did Jim Hawthorne (he basically called it a HR)


Coach shoulda been all over DPs shite as soon as he left the bag yelling "TAG TAG TAG!!!"

He didn't. He told him to tag up, and the guy did tag up. Then the guy wandered off the bag again, and the coach started yelling at him to come back, and then started jumping up and down waving towards third and screaming at the guy when he didn't immediately come back to third again.
