quote:I agree. It doesn't even make my top 50 probably. We lossed to much worse competetion throughout the 90's.
I understand the hate of the 2000 UAB loss, but I don't understand the HATE of the 2000 UAB loss. Losing that game was actually the catalyst for the rest of the 2000 season, which in turn was the beginning of the turnaround of the LSU football program.
As a game in itself, it was a terrible loss. But outside of that box, it was probably the most influentially positive loss in LSU history.

I think of it the way I think of the Houston loss in 1999.
As a game, it was a bad loss. But it was the nail in DiNardo's coffin and he was appropriately fired. Hal Hunter steps up for the Arky game and Rohan shines in victory. Emmert basically takes over the coaching search and hires Saban for the 3rd highest salary at the time - stating LSU means business.
Saban comes in stoic and reserved, an outsider. He loses to UAB and fans are going apeshit. Both the team and the fans rally and the next week in an awesome Tiger Stadium environment, LSU defeats a top 15 Tenn team in OT.
Houston/UAB - both losses that actually helped LSU build what we have now.
