I think the difference between The Beatles and Bieber is quality. Even in the 60s, critics and musicians alike acknowledged how good their music was. It wasn't like Led Zeppelin who received belated praise from magazines like Rolling Stone.

Well that and the Beatles could actually play instruments.
I've always wondered why they get compared to boy bands who just dance and lip sync.
