Q: Where are you going to play?

A: I talked to (Jonathan) Vilma and I talked to Coach Spagnuolo yesterday and they said they are going to get their best players on the field. They really don’t have everything all worked out. When I talked to Vilma he said “that if you feel comfortable and you’re the better [middle linebacker], then you’ll play the [middle] and I’ll play the [weakside] or vice versa or whatever.” I just want to win. Whatever we have to do to win, that’s what I want to do.
---------------------
I had seen him reference this but it is cool to see the direct quote of Vilma saying he would play WLB. Vilma at WLB-Lofton All Proing-Wilson SLB blooming could bring a level of LB play as a group better than we have seen in many years.

---------------------
Q: Do you have a better chance to win a Super Bowl with the Saints?

A: Yes. I look at it like this. When you go to a team, it would be dumb not to think that you don’t have a better chance to win a Super Bowl with that team. I feel like Atlanta and the Saints have been evenly matched. But I really feel like there is more talent with the Saints. They defintiely can score more than two points in a playoff game. I will say that.

Official Team Interview

NewOrleansSaints.com: After having a very productive career at Oklahoma, it seemed like a really smooth transition into the NFL with Atlanta. Can you discuss your first four seasons in Atlanta, what you accomplished and how you think you can improve?
Curtis Lofton: “I was only at Oklahoma for three years. Most guys stay five years. My first three years, I was still really learning the game and my last two years I took big steps into developing as a football player and my knowledge level of the game. I’ve made many tackles and many plays, but I’m always progressing and trying to improve everything. My pass game, I really improved that last year. My main thing is I’m only 25 years old and I’m only going to get better. I feel like the coaches with the Saints are some of the greatest coaches in the league. Did you see what Van Gorder was doing in Atlanta? (laughs) They will help me mature and improve me as a player here.”

I don't think this was actually said by him. I didn't see it in the AJC article but maybe I just missed it?

it was too sweet of an embellishment to pass up

I like to add those to lengthy copy & pastes sometimes just to see if anyone is paying attention. There's one more btw.

I get goosebumps thinking about a new-aged dome patrol to go along with our "OH, Breesus" Offense........ Lofton, Vilma, Wilson, and Chamberlain will deffiantely become one of the best LB corps in the league. I feel we would be UNSTOPPABLE if we see Cam Jordan become an elite pass rusher.

Lastly, Thank you Goodell, you just gave our boys motivation that no bounty program could ever do...... WHO DAT!!!!

I have not been this excited about our LB's since the days of the Dome Patrol.

With some of those comments, it makes me wonder what the players for Alanta really feel about the coaching staff.

My main thing was, I went down there and they have a winning mentality. They’ve won a lot of games over the years. I wanted to go play for a team that has a chance to win the Super Bowl and I think that’s them. They are kind of taking on the mentality that it’s “us verses them.” That’s how I feel and can’t wait to be a part of it.

It still blows my mind that players want to come play for the Saints because they have a winning mentality. I really never thought I would hear that.

I still don't believe it at times. Incredible to see.

I'm excited about the idea of Martez having both Vilma and Lofton to learn from. Lofton is young too, so our LB corp could feature Tez and Lofton for many years to come.
