It's always good whether you're fishing or cruising...though the recent dredging of the Cajun Bahama's put a kink in things...not nearly as much shallow swimming area as there once was.

There is another way into Mechant, it just takes a little longer. Go through Jug Lake and take a left instead of a right where you would take a right to head to Lost lake. That will put you through eagle lake and then through goose bay. Probably will cost you 20 minutes but save a potential headache.
