Don't worry, USC will push him off the front page before long.

He is the best coach in college football. No question after 1/9. One of the best in the country in any sport. That's just fact.
And that hurts like hell to type that, fwiw. 1/9 sucked.

Actually Bertman said that once
"Best I've ever been around"

He's one of the best in all of college football. The best? Maybe. The disparity is not enough that he should have gotten a mulligan. Nor is it enough that he should be paraded around proclaiming his greatness at random times during the offseason. There's a slant in the media. It's obvious and it is disgusting.

And yet, Skip's ego caused him to let $horty go without trying to keep him?

Saban wanted out...nothing was stopping him.
“It was the grind of the season in 2002,” said Georgia Tech athletics director Dan Radakovich, then the senior associate AD at LSU. “[Then- New Orleans Saints coach] Jim Haslett, a former teammate of mine, was telling me on the phone how his job was driving him crazy, and he said, ‘You’ve gotta get an AD’s job so you can hire me.’ Then later in the day, I was walking through the building and I see Nick and he’s telling me, ‘I gotta get out of here. I gotta go to the NFL.’ It was kind of funny. One guy wanted out of the NFL, one wanted out of college. It was like, ‘The grass is always greener.’?”

because it's time for spring ball, ESPN usually features top programs on their spring ball coverage, and Bama's one of the top (if not the top) programs in the country?

Oh gome on now. Even with your congenital negitivity at full stream, you can't possibly believe that there was any way that LSU could have kept Saban from making the NFL jump.
Saban played the "will he/won't he" game the entire time he was here. It was all about getting the exact offer he wanted. All LSU represented to Saban was a bargaining chip.

This has been the case from the moment he took the bama job and before he won a single game as their coach. No ither coach in any sport has gotten as much face time on ESPN's web site as he has.
I really think a deal was made with ESPN when he left the dolphins. After all Mort got the exclusive/spin interview. JMO

Because his football team is the defending national champs
Because he has won 2 of the last 3 BCS Titles
Because he has an overall record of 48-6 over his last 4 seasons, including 28-4 in the SEC
Because he has produced 6 first round draft picks the last 2 years with another 4 projected first rounders next month
In other words, he is pretty fricking good
And Les had the chance to stop all that shite, but blew it....big time

this....espn would like nothing more than an bama/usc mythical natcham. screw the strength of schedule and screw the quality wins and bad losses....it's all about demographics and selling pickup trucks. it will never change unless divI gets a serious playoff system and then you'll still have espn hype trying to control the seeds. seaux it geauxs.
