I would love to see LA expand the calibers. I completely agree the "primitive weapons" designation is a joke, but I'm not complaining about an extra couple weeks of season. When I get older I'll get into the "true primitive weapons". In the mean time I wish the 35 whelen was on there! Legal in MS (where I lived for 5 yrs). Shoots a hell of lot flatter than a 45-70. But as I understand it pretty much ballistic equivalent of the -06 necked up.

So the point is everyone seems to love the primitive weapon season as an extension of firearm season, not the requirement to use a true muzzleloader. Why not just extend firearm season????

I am a flintlock purist and hunt with it 90% of the time when after deer and turkey and using a firearm. Having a special season wouldn't change a thing for me. So why not due away with "primitive weapon" season and just have a longer gun season?
