This guy has put some serious thouoght into the situation. He may very well be right. If we want to upgrade the defense we may have to sacrifice either or both.
Jahri Evans has dropped off since getting the big contract. Front office is going to have to decide the odds of Nicks pulling a Charles Grant, Johnathan Sullivan, etc. and putting his performance on cruise control.

I've pimped Wang on here for a while. Both good insight and entertaining writing.
Franchising Nicks and getting a 1st Rder, hell even an upper 2nd has always been my preferred armchair GM outcome.
Just as he said too. I love Nicks. I love Colston too. But for the $45-50mil Colston will cost could reel in a high impact defensive player. Step back and think if he was a FA on the market... gonna be 29, 5 knee surgeries (including microfracture), significant collarbone and wrist injuries, not a particularly strong vertical threat... would ya be clamoring to sign him long term?
