Maybe my impression is wrong, but I just don't see a pattern of rapid or even timely response to filling key staff vacancies with first quality coaches. Shouldn't there be some kind of on-going, unofficial "fishing" out there in coach-land - knowing that staff vacancies are always coming up? Then you wouldn't necessarily have to start off on square 1 every time.
What you are doing is confirming what you want to see. First of all you mention 3 situations where you think Miles moved slow, what about the other staff hires he made? Replacing Fisher with Crowton? Hiring Chavis? Adding Cooper, Gonzalez, Wilson? How long did those take? Also how do the 3 hires you keep bring up compare to other hires at other schools?

quote:So maybe my impression is wrong. And maybe I'm really remembering how long he took to make the changes that everybody knew needed making - For instance - it took what seemed like forever to replace Malveto. And how long was he in replacing Crowton (the OC who allegedly was also QB coach, when in fact that was clearly not happening based on visible and statistical QB results - thus the QB coaching position was de facto vacant and everybody who was watching could see that). And it seems like I remember reading threads here asking "when?" would this or that coaching position finally be filled. One of those times it was filled with Malveto.
Maybe my impression is wrong...
So forgive me if I'm not as patient as the wise ones here, or uninformed as compared with most of you geniuses, or if I have a wrong impression. Clearly you guys have a far greater ability to discern what is happening at all levels and at all times.
I'm just never totally confident of *CLM's timing in hiring new coaches. Sometimes it is circumstances, sometimes it seems like it's him. Sorry if that bothers you (I am answering a bunch of responses by more ranters here than just yours H-Town, so please bear with me).
