The boyfriend and I are going to Boston April 11-15! Here's a summary of the agenda:
~Gonna be at Fenway for opening day of the 100th anniversary!!
~Of course we are going to do the freedom trail from start to finish & see Faneuil Hall
~Cheers is a given
~Take the quick rail ride up to Cambridge and see Harvard & MIT & we'll make a trip over to Boston College
~Planning to rent a car that Saturday and trip down to Cape Cod for a few hours...
Any spots that we MUST see, maybe something off the beaten path? And the most important part, RESTAURANTS!! What are some go-to places for you guys???
Thanks so much for the tips!!!

Sounds like you have a good agenda but Cheers is a letdown.

Old Ironsides and Bunker Hill were fun. We enjoyed the tour of the Old North Church. We drove to Plymouth Village and that was really good history, as was a trip to the Lexington/Concord area...great history there.
As for food, we didn't work hard enough...we were guests of family that didn't make food a priority. But, there is excellent Italian all over the North End,the Union Oyster House is great...get the chowder and visit the raw bar for oysters and clams...and I wanted to hit China Town, but didn't get a chance.

Let me guess.. your boyfriend is from Louisiana.. has never been to Boston before.. but wears a faded Red Sox hat he bought in 2004 and has "been a fan since he was a kid" right?
If all of that is off base, my apologies.
Here ya go:
Rino's Place - awesome Italian food. it's on the other side of the bay in East Boston.
Bartley's Burger Cottage - right next to Harvard. burgers are fricking gangster.
Whitey's - best dive bar I went to in South Boston. no signs outside but the address is 269 W. Broadway. there's a lot of other cool bars around there as well. should definite check out the neighborhood. Tom's English Cottage is good too.
Deep Ellum - best draft/craft beer selection in the area. bit of hike being out in west part of town but it's a great place.
Neptune Oyster - some of the best seafood in Boston.

Go see the show "Shear Madness". Longest running off-Broadway play in history. I've been twice and it is hilarious. It's interactive, so audience gets to participate, so it's never the same twice in a row. Good stuff.
Go to dinner just before or after the play, and it will be a memorable evening.
