Most Americans prefer their beef well done

Mmm mm mm nothing says "delicious" than a hamburger patty that's been sitting on a grill until it's nicely gray and dry. Or so believe 52% of Americans, as summarized by this beef industry research paper I discovered while googling something completely unrelated.
LINK
The amount of people who want their hamburgers well done or medium well is a staggering 72%. For roasts, it's 63%. Most incredibly, even for steaks a staggering 45% of Americans want their meat on the cooked side of medium. Like your meat rare? Weirdo. Less than 5% of the American population agrees with you.
This led me to think -- is this a situation where the wisdom of the crowds wins out over the more elitist attitude of the F&D board? What do they know that we don't know?

I like most meats Mediums, with the exception of good cuts of Tenderloin that I will eat at rare or even Pittsburgh. Most people I know "Don't want their meat to be bloody or pink at all".

No big surprise. Same crowd that keeps Toby Keith, Applebees and Keeping Up With the Kardashians in business.

Lol, no. Just because the lowest common dominator = the majority doesn't mean they are correct as far as what inherent tastes the best is.

In no means do I want this to sound racist, but are you friends with a lot of white people?

No surprise here either. Same bunch that voted Obama into office.

Don't really see how that is relevant.

From what I have seen, a lot of people don't know the difference between medium rare, medium, and medium well. My stepdad always orders well or medium well and says every steak he gets is dry or tough.

he cant put two and two together?

My inlaws won't touch steak until it forms into a boot. Their loss, I guess.
Plus, if you're dining at a nice place & you order a steak cooked well, you're getting the worst cuts of meat. So it all works out.

My dad always got steaks extra well done when we went out to eat when I was a kid. Golden Corral every other Friday night. He would send that bitch back if he even thought he saw a hint of pink in that shitty steak.
Suprised how many of the redneck class will eat some nasty things, but they can't get over the idea that it is not really blood you are seeing when you cut into a steak that is medium rare or medium, etc.

I had a friend who absolutely refused to eat at Silver Moon because "you don't know what they're doing in that kitchen." Which, OK, is fair enough. But the dood ate at Taco Bell three times a week. Now I'm not sure where Mama got her meat from but I guarantee it was better than whatever grade D beef substitute went into Taco Bell's 69 cent hard tacoes. I think he liked his steak well done too.

Nope, he just says he has always ordered them well done and likes his burgers/steaks with some pink in them.
I have cooked him ribeyes, filets, etc at home and always cook them the same way as I like mine. If it is a good cut, between rare and medium rare. He always likes them and says they are cooked perfectly

So, the stupid, liberal, pansy-arse bunch that shops at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, etc. are the same stupid people that eat at Applebees and listen to Toby Keith?
I thought the gimme my steak cremated people were the ones who took their handguns with them everywhere - even when going to the toilet?

I actually got a right wing chain email a couple years back that made fun of liberals for liking sushi and their steaks medium rare.

Yep - seems like you would have to be a bit more tough-fibered to eat the raw stuff.
I seriously doubt Jan Brewer eats at McDonald's very much.
