I'll jump in and say that after the patches and adjusting the sliders, I'm pretty damn pleased with the game. You say you read OperationSports "religiously," so try implementing some of the sliders for Heisman levels.
DBs do play man and they play it well. I've had many DBs knock away passes or tackle a guy right when the ball gets there. Just because your corner is higher rated doesn't mean he can't get beat.
With the new sliders, LBs and DL do not intercept or swat passes nearly as much. In fact, you see several passes going over their heads like in a real game.
Collision detection is most likely one of the most difficult programming pieces. If a few blips here and there turns you off, so be it.
Opposing QBs run and scramble like crazy since the new patch. Try it.
OL blocking is also pretty realistic since the new patch and adjusted sliders. 3-4 sacks a game is pretty damn normal. I typically get that amount plus numerous rushes and knockdowns.
Recruiting in dynasty is a drag? You want the game to be realistic but then you say recruiting is a drag? How much time do you think coaches spend evaluating players and recruiting? Hell, I wish there was more to recruiting, like videos of the prospect, stats to high school seasons, actual combine-like numbers, etc.

Instituting sliders was just EA's way of saying "here, you guys fix it."

Insinuating that the drag of recruiting adds to the realism should have you complaining that there aren't boards and boosters to appease.
I want realistic gameplay, nobody wants realistic tedium involved in day to day program operation.

adjusting the sliders
this is huge. Sure some sliders need work like ints but most of it is good.
