Why did V. Miller win DROY in such a landslide?

Since it's award night, why did he win?

His stats are good, but I think Aldon Smith and Ryan Kerrigan had equally good years:

Miller: 64 Tackles, 11.5 Sacks, 2 FF
Smith: 37 Tackles, 14 Sacks, 2 FF
Kerrigan: 63 Tackles, 7.5 Sacks, 4 FF, 1 INT

And Miller ran away with it, 39 for him, 11 for Smith, and not 1 for Kerrigan.

I don't mind Miller winning if he had edged out the other 2 but seriously

It's not like the guys can vote for them like they do for baseball trophies.

Miller meant more to the Broncos' defense than Smith to the Niners' defense and Kerrigan to the Redskins' defense.

Preseason hype. Smith and Kerrigan were both better this yeasr and will continue to be in the future. Hell I think JJ Watts will be the best of all of em.

Why does the margin of votes matter?

Exposure. The whole Tebow story (good and bad) put Von Miller and the Broncos defense in the spotlight, despite everyone constantly saying the Broncos defense got no credit, which wasn't true.

I laughed every time some fool said the Broncos had an "elite", "good", or "above average" defense. They were in the 20s in scoring defense. They improved SOME with Tebow starting because he wasn't turning the ball over nearly as much as Orton did, but they were still a bad defense.

Was used as a situational pass rusher for a good portion of the year if I remember right.

Miller's fast start won him the award.

Aldon Smith was the best rookie defenseman in the league though

He should have won the award based on that one gif alone.

They gave up 15, 24, 10, 13, 13, 32, and 10 in games Tebow won

Gave up 45, 41, 40, and 7.

They were pretty damn good during that winning streak. In the 3 losses that they gave up points, they had a ton of turnovers

This.

And, he pretty much was non-existent in those games.
