It appears that Frank's doing fairly well with the in-state kids that we want, though Trovon (not his fault at all) & LC are pelts on someone else's wall at this point.

But beyond that, Brick can get on 2-3 guys nationally a year and develop a relationship. Living Room Les is a great closer & on campus visits, he's Golden by all accounts.

But I haven't heard much out of anyone else in terms of their ability to beat the streets and recruit.

Studrawa is below average, with Ware being the only wampum in his belt. Kragthorpe reeled in Kiel but you can't account for homesickness. I thinkm he'll be a draw to QB's with what Mettsiah does in 2012, so he's okay.

Wilson we already touched on, but as for our offensive staff, its time Ensminger hit the bricks. We need to absolutely NAIL some top-level recruiters & coaches at the TE & WR positions heading into 2012.

We had very little if any fallback plan when the Landon Collins & Gunner Kiel losses cascaded into then losing Miller to Auburn after he was on campus.

We are overworking our horses & the guys that aren't + recruiters far, far outnumber the guys who aren't recruiters hardly at all.

On defense, Chavis isn't the best, but his coaching chops are unparallelled. Haley has done well with guys like Ego, Ferguson, Montgomery & Randle though the latter washed out.

Cooper is a great talent evaluator but I'm not sold on his ability to actually recruit consistently.

The Special Teams guy hasn't yielded anything yet, but he's our man in Texas along with Krags, so we'll see.

All in all, I think it may be time to evaluate what happened to close this year & stop and take a long look at Ensminger & the WR Coach. We've GOT to have a big recruiter who can cover Texas. Its a must. We also need another guy that may have some national pull.

I'm not sure if we should go after Burton Burns or whomever, but we've absolutely got to make some great recruiting hires on the staff that can also coach the kids up.

Its imperative seeing the way we finished, the lack of results in East Texas, etc.

Been talked about, but it is obvious. We need a national recruiter.

Apparently everyone here thinks the other coaches hate Porter...yet I've never seen any proof. Anyone care to show me a link?

Recruiting is fine. Recruiting for this year is over and is usually done by December.

Most of recruiting now is on the jr class

Since you have 100,000+ posts, I would think everything that can be said about LSU football can be found in one of previous your posts. (word for word). Word.

Can you produce any links about a coach saying he hates another coach in the media? I can think of one or two ever that I've read.

I love guys who ask for links about info of that nature. Of course...guys in this profession are ALWAYS putting their once and potential future employers on blast CONSTANTLY!

hate could be a strong word....Regardless I don't Porter in charge of developing our WRs or God forbid the rotation mess there.

There definitely was some division with Porter here. There were plenty of rumors that the RBs didn't like him. I think that its pretty obvious how much better our RB rotation has been since Wilson has been here. He really seems to know the right time to put RBs in the game and when to switch things up. I felt that Porter used to make some strange calls, guys would fall off the map, and he would take guys that were on a roll out and ruin the flow.

If Porter comes back, I would want him to coach TEs or something where he wouldn't be doing anything.

My dream would be to get a great WR coach and get a good recruiter. Les needs to fire Ensminger and get a good recruiter. No need for a dedicated TEs coach that can't recruit.

you can't have a guy coaching TEs and then not doing a damn thing recruiting wise....sorry Steve

I agree G.

Find another job for Esminger bc we know Les hates canning people. Maybe bring back Henson as TE coach, and go throw a bunch of cash at Tyke Tolbert or a guy that will be a tireless recruiter. This staff needs to be upgraded.

In previous years i would agree Les is a great recruiter and closer. Unfortunately, his stubbornness on national tv, by not making any changes to help the offense, is hurting us now. He looked as clueless as JJ did all game. It will take a good offensive year by Mett to change the image, or it mat take several. Lets see how QB recruiting is next year when its very important. Its not facilities, because ours is as good as any and better than most.

You guys are ridiculous!!
If Kiel didn't get homesick the second he started packing,if Miller didn't want to enroll early,if LC wasn't chasing tail Bama....then we would have 2 Five stars and a 1 Four star giving us a top 5 class right now!! Not really anything to blame our staff about...it's just some bad luck! Get a grip fellas!!

So you think LM looked like a competent coach at the bcs game? You can believe the mama thing, and it may have played a role, but it was LM's stubbornness to change away from what was not working, that have given recruits something else to think about. Kiel was one of them.

ensminger needs to be earl lane'd. i applaud his efforts this season on the sideline as he was juggling multiple duties with stud moving upstairs. but les needs to bring another guy in or at least hire a WR coach.

the facts are that we didn't get kiel or lc and miller is not here. that is a fact. I hope lm doesn't use the lc and kiel situation to RATIONALIZE that everything is ok recruiting wise because it is not.

Ensminger needs to go and we need another top notch recruiter along with porter. only caveat is Ensminger is probably the lowest paid coach on staff and I wonder if lm has the budget to PURCHASE a top notch recruiter. I am a little worried that we haven't heard anything on wr coach. seems like we make want to wait until after NSD so not as to disturb any recruits.
