For home defense, with the idea that the wife could use more confidently, as well?
Lemme have it!!

20.

With the 10 or 20 round mag, you'll still have plenty of pellets if the first shot doesn't drop him. The reduced recoil would be a plus.

20 would be easier for a woman to shoot. And should be plenty to incapacitate an intruder. But I thought you have a judge?

20ga is a better self defense round IMO. The guns usually handle better and the reduced recoil is a plus. If you miss with a 20 you woulda missed with a 12 too.

1. we shot alot when we dated, back when there was only flintlock.
2. she is an excellent shot,,, i trained her.
3. yes, there is a Judge on her bedside table, but, don't zombys travel in packs?
4. i'm kinda leaning toward a 20, with a big arse "clip".. mag, before alx and infidel tell me how stupid i am..
any objections,,, i wanna hear em....

btw,, anybody got one for sale??

Get a dog and train it for her. It will never bite you like a 12 or 20.

I just purchased a saiga 12 for home protection with the intent of the wife being able to use it as well. I shot mine yesterday for the first time and I have the bruise today to prove it. Decent kick, but that's mostly due to the crappy stock they put in it. They know you'll likely convert the gun and toss that anyway. I plan on adding a recoil reducing stock, pistol grip, forearm vertical grip and muzzle break. All of those should reduce recoil or assist in controlling the weapon.

Hopefully she never has to use it. But in the event she does there will be little difference she feels between the 12 and 20 when the adrenaline is raging in a life or death situation. Most importantly make sure she is comfortable with the operation of the gun.

You enjoy some 20 round magazine shooting with it too.

AR15 .....

the recoil in those is the same as any other semi auto shotty. And my wife likes neither. it scares her. she can bust some caps though with an ar15! it's so hot.

20. Much easier to shoot and much cheaper. You are going to spend a fortune tricking it out.

Classicarms.us there is also something like j and g sales that has them for $519

Go to saiga-12.com great resourceful place for all things saga.

As far as going with a 20 because it is cheaper... that should not be a deciding factor. I'm not going to buy the cheaper item because its cheaper. In a life or death situation you want what you are confident with. Whether that is the 12 or 20 is up to you. If the price is the factor get a 870 pump

You can have a finely tuned saga 12f that is in a tactical format ~$1000-1100. Or you can go crazy and spend 2k and have 18lb "look at me I'm the cool guy on the internet."I. It is your choice to make.
