To further bolster my argument, Oklahoma St. actually increased in PPG from 2002 to 2003 by 1.6 points. So Fields had pretty much the same ypa, ypc, and completion %. While his total yards and TDs fell off (thanks to a vastly improved running game to the tune of ~70 ypg) team ppg and wins increased. And you argue that he regressed?
ETA: 2002 passing ypg = 262.6 and rushing ypg = 148.5. In 2003 that was 197.0 and 217.8 respectively. So a decrease in passing 65.6 ypg and an increase in rushing ypg by 69.3. pretty close. Stronger running game = fewer passing yards/TDs. 2002 Tds were 2.5 and 1.8, and 2003 1.6 and 2.6.

completion %
Most people will consider that a QB should have a better completion percentage after having a full year as a starter. You definitely can not consider it progessing when the completion percentage goes down, even if only by 1%. All i'm saying, is that the majority of players increase efficiency after their first year. Fields didn't. So he regressed slightly. Less TD's, more INT's on fewer passes, that is regressing.
